Default Guild Halls: Mark of Honor or Merely a View?

My Guild and I recently acquired a Guild Hall. A step towards being renowned for prestige and an oppurtunity to show off our military prowess by winning individual Guild Battles. But I realized, after spending 70 thousand gold on a Celestial Sigil to insure our ownership of such an honor-that that was all the guild hall had to offer: little more than bragging rights. With that said-I think that something should be done about Guild Halls. Something that will allow the guild members to interact in ways not possible without a Guild Hall: Tag, for instance-in which to "tag" a person, you have to kill him (or at least nick him-something to prove that you actually reached him), manhunt, capture the flag or an all-out war WITHIN the guild-in which you pick your teams and practive PvP. Basically, allow all the arena interactions IN the Guild Hall and the Hall itself will be your arena. There was rumor of a Guild Bank-where it may be possible to donate money when funds would be needed (to remake guild capes, for instance) with a withdrawal limit and a log (to track all deposits and withdrawals). If nothing else, we could have a merchant and storage access, and the armorer and materials trader.

I don't know if anyone else on here has noticed that the Guild Halls are seriously lacking. It's partly my fault for expecting more-not inquiring about what exactly the Guild Hall would entitle us to, but I think that it would be fair for the kind people at Guild Wars to update their Guild Halls so that it's more than just an expensive view.

Plenty of people have notices and there has been plenty of threads. Anet has all ready said they plan to add more stuff to the guild halls.

Have you ever considered that the empty feeling you have towards your hall is because you dont think you've "earned that honor" ?

My guild earned our sigil the old fashioned way, and no one regrets it
Now we've got money to buy all sorts of toys for our members and upgrades to the Hall when they're implemented.

I agree that the current state of the Halls is kinda lacking but if your guildmembers like to guild on guild combat, then its serveing its purpose.
Sorry you have buyers remorse.

Then there are a LOT of people who have Buyer's Remorse. I suppose that since your guild earned your Sigil "the old-fashioned way" that you would be a GvG/PvP oriented guild. My problem is merely that we are not (as a group) and had I reasearched what the Guild Hall entitled us to, I most likely would have waited to make the purchase.

I feel that we earned our Hall just as much as anyone else did. You are implying that the means by which a Guild gets their Hall is where the prestige lies. I don't think so. There are many people who play the storyline as it was written and are good at taking out big mobs of bloodthirsty monsters. A vast majority of these people are also willing to help any of their friends or fellows reach any place or do any quest, but are virtually useless in PvP. Each style requires a different mind-set and I don't think that one type is any less worthy than the other-though the latter would never earn a Sigil in the Hall of Heroes.

And in reply to that remark of yours: Perhaps, in the future, if there are more Guild Hall Styles available and my Guild and I would like to change our Hall, we could earn another Sigil-either through Battle or with the Almighty (Gold) Dollar.

EDIT: I was so kindly reminded just a moment after I posted this reply that there is in fact a third way to earn a Celestial Sigil: I have seen on a number of sites various art contests that insures the winner the aforementioned Sigil. This is another way one might earn their Hall. It might seem an unfair advantage to those born with an unnatural ability for depicting their world-but then, the winner may have been to years of art classes in which there is a lot of hardwork.

Of course, if this was the ONLY way, it'd be unfair to those of us who've played the storyline long enough to find 100k gold or unfair to those of us practiced enough in PvP to take down a whole team. I think each way provides each player with being able to EVENTUALLY get his Sigil-perhaps you're just a little disappointed that while you may have spent weeks perfecting your PvP character, I simply played the storyline, and with a lot of help from my fellows, managed to get the same prize.

I agree. Not all Guilds are PvP or GvG based, but that doesn't make them any less worthy of a Guild Hall. I'm having the same problem with my Guild Hall-we're a small guild, just starting up and it's kind of frustrating to know that I spent that much gold on something just to forget that it's there...I could've gotten some REALLY nice armor instead, lol.
